With her family in tow Loretta Kryshak has helped to project her business, Rebel, forward in record time to help battle the COVID pandemic. Originally designed for creating disinfecting wipes for hospitals, Rebel has now begun to manufacture surgical masks to keep others safe and healthy.
In fact, it was Loretta´s son Thaddeus who came up with the ingenious idea for the company shortly after arriving home and hearing about the new virus that had migrated.
Upon investigating the seriousness of the virus, Thaddeus took it upon himself to design a surgical mask using the same material as the wipes and turning them into protective face coverings. Upon approval from the Rebel company, Thaddeus set out to design and distribute the masks for the entire Southeastern area of Wisconsin.
Shortly after the design became possible, Rebel immediately began to mass-produce kits to create the individual masks and have them ready for distribution.
To help get this new direction underway, executive director Loretta Kryshak got in touch with investors and created partnerships to help increase people’s realization of the needed mask protection.
It wasn´t until April 2020 that the distribution of masks along with safety precautions relating to COVID became even more important for the masses. It was Rebel that also realized that it was important to get the word out concerning the need to mask up whenever you left the house.
According to Loretta, the overall goal of the initiative was to have more than 3 million masks produced for the Milwaukee area. Below are the results of those efforts.
- There were over 310,000 masks distributed by the Medical College of Wisconsin to help protect poor neighborhoods and first responders.
- Over 1.2 million masks were distributed by One More Ministry, in Milwaukee, along with the deliveries of food to needy areas of the city.
- Over 110,000 protective face coverings got distributed to all public buses and other sources of public transportation.
Because of these great results and efforts, more than 4.5 million masks were generated and distributed in the Milwaukee area.
